Cheslyn Hay is situated in South Staffordshire bordering the Black Country and the rural area of the Shire. Its rise from a clearing in the Royal Forest of Cannock to the place we find today has a lot to with the fact that geologically, the village lies over both coal and sandstone deposits.
Membership to join our society is £4 and we have monthly coffee mornings and guest speakers on the last Thursday of every month, together with organised events such as visits to local places of historical interest and special evenings of nostalgia, including a ‘Black Country Night’ with faggots and peas supper, ‘Forties Nights’ and ‘An Old Time Music Hall Show’. We also produce a quarterly newsletter, and we have all the local censuses indexed together with the majority of baptisms and burial records to help anyone who is either seriously researching their family trees or just curious.
To join our society and for further information or to purchase a publication please get in touch with Trevor McFarlane (Chairman)
