hi
By chance I came to your website. I am interested in the name Whitehouse my maternal side of the family. Can you please advise what Gilpins is and how many Whitehouse names there are? I am particulary interested in a first name Handel as this appears in my family tree.
Thanks
Hi
I recently visited the chase museum with my mother in law. She worked at Gilpin in 30′s and 40′s – Mildred Wardle -and saw the photo of Gilpin workers there. She wonders if there is a copy of the photo as she was unable to make out individuals on it.
I was told to contact Trevor but cannot find a way of doing so on the site.
Re your list of employees who worked at Gilpin’s – I am interested in the BEECH family name. Thomas BEECH was employed as an edge tool maker or edge tool hardener according to the 1861 /71 censuses. He lived at Little Wood, Cheslyn Hay. I wonder if he could have been a Gilpin’s employee? Was Gilpin’s an engineering company? Did it support the collieries in the area? When did it close?
Hope you can help answer my questions!
Regards
