Our website www.cheslynhay.info is getting more and more popular. With it being updated every week, we constantly get at least a couple of responses from all over the world to each ‘Weekly News’ item.
One request from Canada asking after the families Cooper, Brownhill, Witcutt and Pursell and an enquiry from a New Zealand man tracing his mother, Florence May Allsopp, who was originally from Wolverhampton but worked as a maid in the Dell in Rosemary Road. A more local query was for the Roberts family who lived in Saredon Road and a Jack/John Roberts was a well known boxer in the thirties. And finally a lady is revisiting Cheslyn Hay, her birthplace, from Canada and would dearly wish to meet up with any of her old acquaintances. Her mother was from the Holland family (Bertha, Walter, Horace and Ada) and she wants to know if any of the Holland, Ansell, Thomas and Hewitt families (from the late 1940s/early 1950s) are still about. And finally – does anyone know where Frances Rodwell is today? She was the daughter of the Rodwells who kept the Colliers Arms.
Any help to any of these requests would be greatly appreciated.
